Subject: Okay, I have a question....or 4

As a whitey contemplating international adoption, I have a few questions. What do you guys suggest as an alternative in order to help kids growing up in poverty? Poverty sucks. It sucks big time.

As whitey, I understand I can never teach a kid of another color how to deal with racism. However, what kind of options are open to kids in orphanages overseas? What alternative do you propose? If growing up in a white family is hellish, what is the alternative for someone who has been abandoned? Are there enough people within minority racial groups who can provide kids a home? What organizations should we contribute to in lieu of adopting in order to improve the lives of children of color?

I am honestly interested and think your site provides a much needed perspective in the shiny happy “it’s a small world after all” world of international adoption. By the way, I am not the least bit guilt-ridden. I never colonized crap.

Help!

What a load of crap- and of course you aren't speaking for all adoptees, even if you are fond of saying "us Koreans". Come on now, stop whining about your situation and do something genuinely productive with your time.

Ouch, your website stung a bit. I just love how we children trivialize the long term effort being a parent represents.

I have an idea. Not a suggestion, just an idea. How about you adopt a "white" child. From, say, Romania or the Ukraine or Russia. Or the US. Why not?

Turn it around and experience both sides. Then you would have the ultimate advantage of knowing what everyone involved goes through.

Question if I may...do you have any relationship with your parents?

Subject: Regarding the article that Tobias wrote...
To: info@transracialabductees.org

Hello. I just wanted to comment on the article that Tobias wrote about
intercountry adoption. My contention is that although he seems to have
mostly correct information, he is either missing parts of the whole
picture
or chose to ignore some parts. Yes it's an ugly issue, but not
everyone
involved in this process are evil Nazi wannabes that are out to serve
the
needs and desires of the white upper-middle class people. Also, the
article would be much more profound and credible if he'd site his
sources
for the studies and other seemingly empirical data that he's citing.
And
if you're all so upset, why not do something about it? Put your
efforts
and resources into helping these kids in a viable manner. Just my
thoughts...
