home :: abduction update :: archive :: September 5, 2002 ![]() My Reverse Hall of Shame So, I'm continuing my futile search for some other website about transracial abduction that doesn't completely suck and I find this most upsetting web page for The Multiracial Activist, a "libertarian oriented activist journal covering social and civil liberties issues of interest to individuals who perceive themselves to be 'biracial' or 'multiracial,' 'interracial' couples/families and 'transracial' adoptees." Whatever. The important thing is that they include the National Association of Black Social Workers in their Hall of Shame!! They post this article as their reason for slamming the National Association of Black Social Workers: "African American Leadership Group Condemns Racist Adoption Practices" (Project 21 News). It's gross, but here, read it if you want to. At first I thought the article was about the National Association of Black Social Workers being the African American leadership group that condems racist abduction practices, but as you'll discover if you read the article, that was really silly of me. The article is actually by and about the "African-American leadership group Project 21," that criticizes the National Association of Black Social Workers and speaks out in favor of transracial abduction. Project 21 perpetuates all the familiar myths about African American children "languishing" in the foster care system, and accuses African American social workers who refuse to let whites abduct African American children of practicing the "same racism" they "claim to loath." And they actually talk about the movie Losing Isaiah, as if watching some Hollywood dramatization of the foster care "controversy" is like a really good way to learn more about the issue. There isn't a Hall of Shame on our website because almost everyone would be in it (and I'm sure the Multiracial Activist and Project 21 would totally accuse me of "reverse shaming" them), so I'm just gonna say that they suck.
