This article appeared in the Oct. 24, 2000, issue of The Advocate. It's too bad that the "gay-friendly adoption agencies" mentioned in this article were so concerned about maintaining access to Chinese babies for their clientele that they left the homophobic domestic abduction industry completely unscrutinized. This perpetuates the myth that "other" governments (especially those Asian ones) are way more homophobic than the U.S. government, and the "solution" that apparently appeased the adoption agencies totally reinforces the racist belief that all Asians are interchangeable.
